Interested in being
a Farm Intern?

For over two years we have participated in the Worldwide Opportunities in Organic Farming (WWOOF) program, where hosts like us provide farm interns to come an live and learn on and with the land.

WWOOF is a cultural and educational program focused on sustainable agriculture. Visitors, or ‘WWOOFers’, share in daily life with their host and learn about organic farming and sustainability while spending about half of each day helping out on a farm. The basic exchange is that hosts offer accommodation and meals to interns, and in return they work 25 hours a week, with no money exchanged between hosts and WWOOFers.

If you are interested, please register to be a WWOOFer and request "a visit" as an intern. See our listing here.

ABOUT US

Founded upon a dream of a healthier life closer to nature, Chelsea & Lorenzo (Chelenzo) moved to New Mexico from New York in 2021 with their family to plant regenerative roots in the Land of Enchantment.

Our farm is a work-in-progress and will offer visitors the opportunity to tour and experience an homestead in action. Applying permaculture, organic farming and land conservation principles, the Family & Team aspire to rejuvenate the magical landscape into a flourishing rain garden and small scale farm replete with edible native plants and trees.

Set in high desert mountains of Cerrillos, New Mexico, our farm offers guests the opportunity to hike daily on 350 acres just east of the Turquoise Trail (Route 14) and directly above the Galisteo River Basin. Upon the land, nature lovers, hikers and outdoorsmen alike will discover arroyos, caves, mesmerizing 360 degree vistas of the mountains that surround Santa Fe, as well as awe-inspiring sunrises and sunsets.

**Please note, that all accepted visits require a 1-2 week trial period, depending on length of stay and where you are traveling from.

WHERE YOU'LL LIVE

There are three rooms available for WWOOFers on our property. Two are recently built rooms in our 2,000 sq ft garage that also serves as Farm Team Central. Here, you will have your own private room with access to a communal kitchen and shared compost bathroom in the same building. Internet is available in common areas and can reach private rooms. This space uses catchment water, newly installed solar power and a wood stove for heat during the winter. Laundry is available in the host's house.

Our third space is our 10 x 12 newly built shack that is about 250 feet from the Farm Team Central. It has its own compost outhouse, a twin bed, an amazing view and perfect for anyone seeking absolute peace and solitude.

All water for our WWOOFer housing is supplied by rainwater. We ask that our WWOOFers be conscious of how much water they use and to conserve as much as possible, whenever possible. The water you will use is also recycled through a greywater system that feeds native plant basins, so we ask that you only use biocompatible soap products.

Along with accommodations, we will provide food. Sometimes it works best for folks for us to shop for them if we are in town or we can workout a stipend if you prefer to shop for yourself, please let us know if you have a preference. You will also have access to vegetables, eggs, and meat produced on the farm.

We are currently constructing a sports field as well as a volleyball court for volunteer/family enjoyment. When there aren't people staying at the guesthouse, WWOOFers are welcome to enjoy the swim pond and hot tub there as well.

A LITTLE MORE ABOUT OUR FARM OPERATION:

Organic methods: All growing operations are organic (though not certified). We never use chemical fertilizers, herbicides, or pesticides. We eat primarily organic food. Whenever possible, we try to ensure our animals are fed organic feed.

PLEASE NOTE: At the farm, we humanely raise and process chickens for ourselves and the community and process these animals 3x a year (May, July, and September). While we can accommodate those with vegetarian and vegan diets in terms of groceries, we do require that our volunteers help with the care of all of our animals, whether they will be processed for meat at some point or not. We understand that some people may not be comfortable being a part of the meat processing day so it is never mandatory to be a part of the processing itself.
